FAMILY, FRIENDS & THOTS
DINNER AT AUNTY ANNIE's PLACE

Fabulous dinner at my
Aunt's place last Wednesday.
My family never fails to find opportunities to meet up.
I really like cosy gatherings like this one and the
Laughters filled conversations as we dine, that's
Y I look forward to all the special occasions and birthdays.

Joash was sick for almost a week. He just recovered yesterday altho' he was still having a slight runny nose this morning. His sleeps were rather disturbed as he woke up in middle of the night and only went back to sleep after about 2 hrs. Yup, we were equally exhausted! We did not go on Thursday & Friday so that he could get ample rest.

Last Sunday, we visited Trinity Christian Church. The place is big and new........ like the nursery cos Jo enjoyed himself so much that he seemed really happy throughout the day. I think he caught his flu from there. It was a baptism service so we did not have a chance to see how their usual service was like. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the worship.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

These pics were taken during ice-breaker in cell the week before CNY. I was in charge of the ice-breaker. It was really interesting as everyone shared how they were feeling on that day by using clay to express.

Had cell last Friday. Told Gary about us exploring other churches. We want to find a place where I do not have to wake Jo up early so that he can also enjoy being in church. I hate attending to a grouchy tot.....it's better that he has ample sleep. Many had told us that we should train Jo to get up early on Sunday morning........ I find it almost impossible to have a happy tot and a stress-free mom if we were to wake up at 7 plus. Maybe I am just not as strong and independent as other moms...... I admit I am weak.............. but please stop telling me that I need to train him........ Honestly, I just don't see the point of doing that! Yup, this is the main reason why I am leaving for another place. I want to enjoy a full service too! I will definitely miss all my friends in church esp my cell and the young ones.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Gil, Mich had a sleep-over at my place on Saturday. Watched "The Notebook" and cried a bucket! A touching story about a man who loved his wife so much that he read to her their love story everyday just to help her remember him........ she had dementia...... A good show to watch..... make you appreciate yr other half better. We had a heart to heart chat in the night. Ra & Daryl were supposed to join us but they couldn't make it last minute.

My Lead Pastor and Chinese Church Pastor will be stepping down in March......... a surprising news for many of us on Sunday. But somehow, it didn't seem to bother me....... like what Tom said, "People come people go, part and parcel of life esp in a Methodist church". So where are we heading? Not sure, anyway I am also leaving in March...... hmmm........... there's something about March!

After service, we celebrated Kuen's birthday at Bei Sheng. We bought him an Ultra man cake for $2.....hee...... HAPPY BIRTHDAY KUEN!

Ken, Gil, Tim & Ra went over to our place to watch some movies. I like Kung Fu Slam Dunk cos I find the show really sweet........ I think that was my 3rd time watching this Jay Chou's movie. Gil was crying so much when she watched CJ7....haha...... I cried that much too when I watched it for the first time...keke! In the evening, we had half boiled eggs and bread at Ya Kun cos I had craving for eggs...... no.... I am not pregnant!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We had dinner at Yuki Yaki, Marina Sq yesterday. I loved the ice-cream making part most. There were many varieties of "balls"..... ..... to choose from......... yummy! Their meat and fish were fresh and well-marinated. Their concept is a little like Seoul Garden but way better in terms of quality of food and creativity. Joash enjoyed the cooking too. Will be back again. Look at the pics and you will know why.

Some thots:

1) Maturity is not about age, it's about the acceptance of responsibility - Edwin Louis Cole

2) You are young once........... do what is right so that you will not regret what you have not done .......... or did!

3) No one is indispensable........ true or false?? I think sometimes we used this statement too carelessly.

4) Truth & love, we need to find a balance between the two.

5) Can we still feel the presence of God in our lives even when we're not serving...... do we need to be busy in order to feel spiritual?

A song that speaks of how I am feeling now:

THERE YOU'LL BE (FAITH HILL)
When I think back on these times
And the dreams we left behind
I'll be glad because I was blessed to get to have you in my life
When I look back on these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me

In my dreams I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there you'll be
And everywhere I am there you'll be

Well you showed me how it feels
To feel the sky within my reach
And I always will remember all the strength you gave to me
Your love made me make it through
oh I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

In my dreams I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there you'll be

Because I always saw in you my light, my strength
And i want to thank you now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

In my dreams I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere i am there you'll be
And everywhere i am there you'll be
There you'll be

UPDATES FROM LAST WEEK
Last week was packed with activities and outings for us. Short updates and pics below:

MONDAY

Visited Adelyn at her place in the evening. Her mom cooked dinner for us. We had a great time catching up with her. My dear Jo had a ball of a time jumping and rolling on her bed. See him in action on his blog.

TUESDAY

Went to see my homeopath on Tuesday's evening with Mich. Took some medicine from her for Jo's immunisation on Sat. She said it will take away the side effects of the jab...... and it was true! We popped by IMM for a quick dinner at Long John Silver. During dinner, we casually talked about watching a mid-night movie and sweetest Mich offered to look after Jo while we went for a show with Gil at Orchard Cineleisure.

We were like "Mountain Tortoises" and almost lost our way in the Cineplex............hee......... I was especially excited to step into the theatre after 2 years.............. This was the best show I had ever watched cos it was the only movie (besides those at home) I had watched since Jo was born. So what did we pick as the first movie of the year (more to come.... right? Mich?)? It's none other than ............

Yes, it was hilarious............... Mark Lee acted super well as a sissy dance instructor. My fave Fann Wong wasn't that convincing as a "Ta Jie Ta" but nonethe less she was still as pretty! I wished I can watch it again. Btw, there are so many other movies that I want to catch........CJ7, Kung Fu Slam Dunk, PS. I love you, Leap Years, Death Note Spin off, Meet the Spartans, Water horse..................... and many more.......... but think will just stick to DVDs.......... unless some kind soul offer to babysit my boy again........ keke!

WEDNESDAY

We went to Ikea after Jo's nap to get him a table and chairs set. See his blog for video of him playing at his very own table. He is no longer sitting on high chair for meals........ oh my dear boy has grown up!

My mom also invited us over for dinner. Dinner was chicken rice, fish, vege and abalone........... Jo surprised us by finishing a bowl of rice.......... he hated rice but maybe this was fragrant and soft! He liked my sis a lot and played with her throughout the nite. My lovely aunty gave us a box of home-made prawn crackers.......... this was tradition for us................. like a must-have for every CNY!

THURSDAY

Valentine's Day cum Joash's last compulsory vaccination........ haha........ what a day.......... he even got his Certficate of "graduation" from those jabs. My Prince was such a brave boy........... he only shouted, "pain, pain!" and was quickly distracted by the sweet in my hand......... greedy little munchkin!

We had a Valentines Day lunch at Ajisen and Tom bought me 2 rings as a gift. NICE?

In the evening, we went PS to meet some of the young ones. They were going for a movie. Daryl & Jerome were such thoughtful guys cos they bought the gals a stalk of rose each. Although the gals felt that it was a little cheesy, I could still tell that they were pleasantly surprised by their sweet gesture.

We continued to shop around the mall and bought some puffs and chocolates for my son's Godma as a VD's gift. Gil was delighted and she was as mesmerised by my son as ever.....hee!

FRIDAY

We invited some of our friends over for Yu Sheng at 10 plus in the night. My cell was cancelled that night. We had fun "laoing" ...... see pics and video............... you've got to listen carefully to the conversations....... lol!

SATURDAY

We invited Gil to have lunch with us at Crystal Jade (Toa Payoh). How I loved the Xiao Long Baos! We had my fave salt and pepper sotong too.

I bought a new set of facial care products as rashes were spouting all over my face....thanks to all the make-up during CNY...........I needed something for super sensitve skin. I remembered my BF telling me about Avene products so decided to give them a try. Strangely, my dear HB willingly forked out the money.....thanks darling! BTW, my rashes cleared after 2 days of tmene Spring Water treatment (FYI, I am not doing an ad for them!). I think it's also time to change my cosmetics too....right dear??

In the evening, we sent Em off at T3.... and my............. T3 is so big and beautiful! Going to miss this girl lots! She was so sweet to give us a gift and card. Em, see you soon in Dec??? Ra will be leaving this week. Going to miss her so much too!

I told you my week was full............. Jo has just awaken from his nap and feeling extremely grouchy......I got to go and wait on the little Prince now! Sayonara..............

Hey, wait a minute, here's a very lovely song by Elmo & The Backstreet Boys......

CHINESE NEW YEAR DAY 3 & 4
Pic of my SILs and nephew plus nieces

Pics of me...... as usual.....hee!

At Tom's 4th bro's place

In church

We visited Tom's 4th brother on Saturday night. It's been a long time since I've seen them. We are so glad that his wife is expecting after 12 years of trying................. congrats Ricky & Anna, may the Lord honour your faith in Him. I am beginning to enjoy family gathering now...... love my nephews & nieces.............. they are just so adorable and sweet! I want a girl....................... haha.............. just kidding!

Was late for church in the morning cos we overslept....hee......... too tired from all the visiting! Hello "holy ones", that doesn't mean we don't put God first! We had lunch at the food court and went over to Rachel's place. Managed to catch up with her parents. Love talking to them. My dear boy slept on their sofa for almost an hour despite the non-stop chatterings and laughters. We went back witht the usual gang about 3 plus and just lazed around till dinner.

Dinner was at Sakura Toa Payoh. Timothy, my Godson came and joined us. Missed this boy. He really knows how to make me laugh. I was so disappointed with the grilled unagi............. not fresh at all....... in fact, it's stinky.....yucks! But the salmon and shishamo were still as good. The young ones didn't seem to enjoy the food...... fussy people!! Mich was playing with the left overs and came up with a "new dish". Tim upon seeing it was inspired to pose a challenge: $100 for whoever can finish it up! Guess who did it......... see videos for the answer.........................

WARNING: NOT FOR THOSE WITH WEAK STOMACHS...... IT'S FEAR FACTOR LIVE!!!!

I felt so nauseated just looking at the vids.............. puke................ Applause, applause to the winner! Maybe I might swallow those disgusting stuff down if it's $10,000 or more............ on second thot, maybe $100,000 or more! Btw, he vomitted everything after the challenge........... double puke!

We left after preparing Joash's milk at Mcdonalds. Had a great time reminincing some old songs in the van........haha............... Daryl..................... hope you're not too affected by our super emo singing.....keke!

Recalled some touching moments in our lives after Jerome offered to buy chicken for my son. He overheard my conversation with Tommy about forgetting to shop for Jo's food and offered to help get them before school.......... I don't why but I felt tears welling up........ aw.......... I am just so touched! Then we went on talking about some kind gestures from Daryl & Gil when Tom went on re-service the last time....... told them I actually cried when they left cos I was super duper touched....... I should change my name to "Emo Sum"!

Received an email from a friend in cell and this is the content:

Three things in life that, once gone, never come back
1. Time
2. Words
3. Opportunity

Three things in life that can destroy a person
1. Anger
2. Pride
3. Unforgiveness

Three things in life that you should never lose
1. Hope
2. Peace
3. Honesty

Three things in life that are most valuable
1. Love
2. Family & Friends
3. Kindness

Three things in life that are never certain
1. Fortune
2. Success
3. Dreams

Three things that make a person
1. Commitment
2. Sincerity
3. Hard work

Three things that are truly constant
- Father
- Son
- Holy Spirit

HOW TRUE! Simple yet profound truths. I think I am going to print these words out and put them up on my wall as a reminder of things that are truly important.

Alright, it's bedtime......... we're be going to Adelyn's place for dinner tomorrow night. Got to go on a diet soon....................... sad!

CHINESE NEW YEAR DAY 1 & 2
CNY Day 1

We have been so busy visiting friends and relatives for the past 2 days! Give Ang Paos until hands pain.... For Tom, it's heart pain. Although it was rather tiring, I must say I enjoyed all the visiting and conversations. Everyone seemed to be in high spirits........... more like must be in high spirit or else whole year not "heng"....... haha!

This is the first CNY that my dear son had to run around with us to so many places. Last year was a little more relaxed. He even had his naps in the van....poor boy! But I am sure he enjoyed playing with all his cousins and being the centre of attraction since he was the youngest (for now cos SIL giving birth in April).

So far we had covered:

- Both Parents' place

- My granny's place

- Aunty Leow's place

- Tom's Elder 's Bro place

- Tom's Elder sis's place

- Tom's 4th Bro's place

- Gil's place

- Han Tong & Ruby's place

Wonder who else will we be visiting tomorrow??????? Ok I am exhausted, brain a little slow now............ Just enjoy the pics......... nite nite! And oh, I am still thinking of having a girl........ I am sure the feelings will disappear right after CNY........... too many nieces!

REUNIONS
I am super tired from all the cleaning and washing......but I just want to blog before CNY........ but will be almost wordless...... unless my fingers refuse to stop typing....hee....

Reunion 1

We had an early Reunion Dinner with my family last Saturday. Dinner was at Red Star Restaurant...... my parents' wedding was held there........ my silly dad "apologised" for not inviting us....... lame! The food was ok altho' this restaurant seemed to be rather well-known....... my dad macam the boss there.......kept going to different tables to entertain friends! Anyway, just enjoy the pics.

Reunion 2

We had dinner on Monday with our long time friends, Shawn & Adelyn (no, they are not a couple!). Brought them to Tomoe but this time the food wasn't as nice (to me!). Thankfully, our dear friends liked the food. After dinner, we popped over to Tong Shui Cafe for desserts. Altho' I was very full, I still gobbled a quarter of the peanut toast cos it was too begging me to eat it.........hee....... Shawn loved it too! Enjoyed our time together.......can't wait to see them again! Ok..... see pics........

Reunion 3

The Tans Reunion dinner was fun and noisy..........Jo loved his cousins. The big family made me feel like having another kid............... feel only hor.....not for real! Food was good too. Thks Gil's mum for some of the yummy vegetarian dishes.

Just finished packing these:

And waiting to receive them today! That's all....hope I won't look like a panda ......... concealer....I need you!!!!!!!!!
